
Ukraine will ensure the smooth transfer shipments of Russian gas to the European Union during the current heat season, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has noted.
"We have everything we need for our country to be a very reliable partner in gas relations during the autumn-winter period," she added while meeting with representatives of the EU Troika in Kyiv on Friday.
The premier also mentioned to the need to cooperate with the EU in the energy sector, in particular, in decreasing the economy's power consumption and the reform of the gas transport system.
Speaking at the closed press conference for the 13th Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv on Friday with President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Durao Barroso and Prime Minister of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt, whose country at the moment keeps the presidency of the European Union, Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko reported: "We will not initiate a process that would disrupt the supply of gas to Europe in the 2009-2010 winter period. I ask you to accept that as a guarantee." |
