President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko is satisfied with the results of his visit and negotiations to Canada, the press service of Ukrainian president mentioned.
"I'm sure that after the visit we became friendlier with the representatives of Ukrainian Diaspora, officials, where we brought a new meaning to the status of a special partnership," Yuschenko said in an interview in Toronto on Wednesday.
The president of Ukraine admitted Canada is a good partner for Ukraine, supporting at the international level Ukrainian efforts to integrate into international organizations.
Among the greatest achievements of the visit, Yuschenko said the conducting of a memorandum on collaboration in the nuclear energy field between Ukraine and Canada.
"We are united by different interests in the energy sphere, particularly, in the global issue of the use of Canadian technology in the Ukrainian nuclear energy sector, within the framework of the national energy strategy for the next 15 years," Yuschenko said.
"The conducting of the agreement demonstrates that we have found the basement for a strategic partnership in this field," Yuschenko added.
He paid special attention to the discussion of the humanitarian sphere of cooperation between Ukraine and Canada, primarily Canada's provisions for the educational and cultural needs of the Ukrainian community in Canada. The issue concerned ways in which the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and more than 20 social organizations could be involved in programs to promote the Ukrainian language. |
