Ukraine and Sri Lanka will collaborate in the field of tourism and military engineering.
Respective agreements were concluded in Kyiv on Wednesday after a meeting between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and President of Sri Lankan Mahinda Rajapaksa.
"During the negotiations held between the Ukrainian and Sri Lankan parties, we have reached agreement on the need to continue expanding our cooperation in trade, tourism and defense," the Sri Lankan president said at a press conference after the negotiations.
He noted that the parties had also agreed to hold bilateral consultations on the creation of an intergovernmental commission.
Yanukovych, in his turn, admitted that collaboration in shipbuilding, energy, fishery, as well as industrial and infrastructure construction was among priority tasks.
He added that the parties had emphasized the necessity to use the two countries' trade and economic potential "in full." First and foremost, this concerns investment business and food supplies from Ukraine to Sri Lanka, he mentioned.
He also added that after the talks the parties had concluded a number of international accords that expand the agreement basis between the two countries, in particular, in trade and economic cooperation, and create a solid platform for the effective development of such collaboration. |
