Three new metro stations have been opened in the capital, the first time in 22 years that such a number has opened on the same day.
It was reported that services through three new metro stations of the Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska line of the Kyiv Metro – Demiyivska, Holosiivska and Vasylkivska – had started on Wednesday, with Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, as well as officials from the Cabinet of Ministers and Kyiv City State Administration riding on the first train.
Azarov visited the three new metro stations along with journalists and investors.
The total length of the metro section is 3.8 kilometers, and its capacity is 34000 passengers per hour.
"Such an event [the opening of three new subway stations at once] last happened in Kyiv 22 years ago," Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov noted at the opening ceremony.
Due to the opening of the new subway stations, the capital will launch a new trolleybus route, No. 45, and a new bus route, No. 76 (Kasiyana Street to the Vasylkivska Metro Station), while the existing public transport routes near the new metro stations will be altered. |
