Till 2012 in Kyiv 55 new hotels per 13169 rooms will appear. Among them there will be 15 "five-star" hotels per 5515 rooms; 24 "four star" hotels per 4577 rooms. There will be 14 "three-star" hotels with 2622 rooms, as well as 2 "two-star" hotels per 455 rooms. It was reported by vice-head of Kyiv state administration Anatoliy Golubchenko.
Besides, in order to supply the necessities in the places for fans location and participants of championship Euro-2012, 28 hostels per 12 000 places are going to be built, as well as 6 hostels per 3500 places will be created. As well one international youth center per 15 000 places will be built in Kyiv. It was reported by press service of Kyiv state administration.
Let's remind, that preparations of Ukraine to be one of the hosts for the 2012 European Championship are on track according to President Viktor Yushchenko.
"I would like to guarantee that Ukraine is working in accordance with scheduling and everything will be finished on time", Yushchenko reported.
Yushchenko mentioned that the stadiums in the cities of Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk will be opened later this year, and now the renovation works are under way at the Olympic stadium in Kyiv - which will host the 2012 tournament final.
The neighbor countries won the hosting bid a year ago, but have struggled to upgrade crumbling roads and stadiums, a legacy of the communist era. The tournament will be the first main sport competition held in former communist Eastern Europe since the Moscow Olympics in 1980.
It is pleasant to see the government appropriating significant funds for renovation and preparation for the tournament nine months after being chosen to host it with Poland. But it's sad to see the state spending the little money it has for such investments when investors with plenty of cash are aching to improve Ukraine.
The only money the government needs to spend is on preparation tenders to lease Airport terminals. State cash should not be spent on renovation, modernization or expansion that could be better handled by private company. |
