"The visit is very important because the top UEFA directors will come with me in order we could get a precise idea of what is happening in Poland and Ukraine," reported Michel Platini at the press conference on Wednesday at the end of UEFA's 33rd Ordinary Congress.

"We plan to spend 1 day in every country to listen to the presentations of the local organizing committees on stadium, cities and infrastructures," he noted.

"We are doing this because there's a steering committee that will make conclusions about  everything at the beginning of May and I'd prefer to have seen the cities that will host championship in order to see the progress that is being made on the stadium and the cities."

As for the preparation work, the former France international reported that "the situation at the organizational level is not easy for Poland and the Ukraine, and it's not easy for UEFA either".

"But Ukraine and Poland are working thoroughly and UEFA is also doing everything it can to take things forward," he insisted.

These two countries were a surprise choice to host the tournament and have since been dogged by concerns about their ability to meet their commitments regarding the construction of stadia and the creation of transport and hotel infrastructures.
