Kyiv city state administration has the intensions to finish construction of three metro stations toward the residential area of Teremky district from the current Lybidska station to the Vasylkivska station at Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiiska line in December 2008, reported Anatoliy Holubchenko, deputy mayor.

"We have a possibility to launch the three metro stations before the New Year celebration and transfer first passengers during the New Year holidays," Holubchenko added.

Hence, he mentioned there is a problem with financing the building because the revenue targets of this year's city budget are not met. Moreover, there are difficulties in construction of the section between the current Lybidska and the new Demiyivska station because constructors have to struggle with several small underground rivers.

Head of the Kyiv Metro Company Petro Miroshnykov noted that his company has 650 million UAH more to finish building of the three stations.

Miroshnykov said that raising metro tariffs to 2 UAH per ride as proposed by the city officials would speed up building. When finished, the section under construction will be 20 to 30 meters deep, with 6 to 14 meters of soil above the tunnel.
