The Kiev municipal council has sold 0.006-ha land site to Volodymyr Stelmakh, the National Bank of Ukraine governor, at 2A-4 Zolotovoritska Street for UAH 0.3 million to service a garage.
The sale decision was supported by 64 members of the city council, while 61 votes are required.
The decision reports Stelmakh has been leasing the plot since 2009.
As it was earlier reported, then leader of the National Bank Council Petro Poroshenko noted in October 2009 that Stelmakh's salary was UAH 13,800 a month.
Deputy parliament speaker Mykola Tomenko, who is one of the leaders of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc fraction, called on the NBU Council in middle September 2009 to check up the information about a possible increase by 2 times in the wages of the National Bank of Ukraine's leadership and explain how this could be justified in the period of economic turmoil.
Tomenko admitted that media reports indicated that the National Bank of Ukraine's Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh obtained more than UAH 460 000 in the first quarter of 2009 (up from UAH 290 000 in the first quarter of 2008) and that Stelmakh has purchased a Mercedes-Benz automobile for UAH 1 million. |
