President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych admitted he will personally control the implementation of national investment projects, when speaking to the members of the president's economic reform committee in Kyiv.
"I want to propose to the Economic Reform Committee that these projects be implemented under my monitoring... I'll keep this issue under great control. I'll work as the president on the one hand, and as executor on the other hand, as I'll also have the responsibility," Yanukovych admitted at a meeting of the committee on Wednesday.
He suggested that the government also had to assume some risks in such projects. He added that a signal to investors should be guarantees from the state and, particularly, the government, that it would assume the financing of "a certain part of these projects."
The President of Ukraine also informed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov that he has to include national projects in Ukraine's social and economic development program for 2011. Yanukovych mentioned that national projects should be presented in the near future. |
