In the wake the swift increase of the United States dollar against the Ukrainian national currency - Hryvnya - on the bank market in Ukraine on Wednesday, the hryvnia cash exchange rate against the USD in the capital reached UAH 5/$1 on 18, September 2008.

Currency exchange market managers in Kyiv told on 18, September there is a short deficit of the United States dollar in cash exchange outlets in Ukraine.

At 1000, on Thursday, the cash hryvnya exchange rate counted in Kyiv UAH 4.83-5.03 per 1 USD (buying and sale), and from UAH 6.85-7.19 for EUR 1.

On Wednesday, the hryvnya exchange rate against US dollar lost its power on the bank market from UAH 4.8150 per 1 USD to UAH 4.94 per 1 USD.
