The government of Ukraine paid about 42 million Hrn in delayed value-added tax (VAT) refunds to the Ukrainian Airlines Aero Svit after the company staff staged a rally outside downtown Kyiv last week.
"The sum we have obtained makes it possible for us to pay salary debts to our workersd. Today, we are going to transfer the sum due for May, tomorrow for June," Aero Svit Press Secretary Volodymyr Haidash reported recently.
He added the state's current debt to the airlines is about 35 million Hr.
"Nobody knows when the money will be returned, yet we hope that in future we won't face such an infringement on the VAT law," he mentioned.
As was reported, on July 4, 2009, Aero Svit's workers held a rally outside the government's offices in Kyiv demanding the payment of delayed VAT refunds to the company |
