Andriivska Church has been closed in Kyiv because stairs that lead up to the church have been collapsed.
As Andriivska church dean Mitred Archpriest Father Vitaly Danchak noted, at present all the planned services are hold in the building of Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church on Mykhaylovskyi Cathedral.
The church was temporarily closed for reconstruction. In October, building workers prepared polls to construct a wall to secure the church porch.
“We asked not to close the church during the porch renovation works, but to put a sort of brick path leading from the stairs to the entrance instead. We were told it would be done, but they refused to carry out that later,” as Father Danchak reported.
Danchak also added the priesthood will have to stay “churchless” for another month, instead of several weeks.
Building site supervisor Serhiy Stadnyi assures that he said to the Mitred Archpriest about church closing several weeks in advance with a special letter. Construct workers hope to complete all the work at the site within five weeks at most. |
