Ukrainian Ambassador in Russia Vladimir Yelchenko said that the presidents of Ukraine and the Russian Federation Viktor Yanukovych and Dmitry Medvedev during a meeting on September 24 in the first place, will discuss cooperation in high technology areas, rather than the price of gas.
"I believe that the sensation did not take place because the gas price issues, joining or not joining to the Customs Union despite their importance, are not unique issues of bilateral relations," - said the ambassador.
He noted that we should not overestimate the importance of negotiations on gas.
"We will reach an agreement on gas, even if it does not happen right away this Saturday. There are many different varieties, there are Ukraine's proposal, which included the interests of both Kiev and Moscow ", - he said.
Yelchenko also noted that the strategic partnership provides for the development of relations in space, aviation, shipbuilding, agriculture, and all of these topics on the agenda of the meeting the two presidents.
The Ambassador said that cooperation in these high-tech industries "stalled" because the meeting of Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission was transferred several times and was not signed by a number of agreements.
"We agree, and the gas issue will not mar the relations between the two countries. I am surprised that everyone is talking only about the gas, but at the same time, many policy issues need to be agreements between the two countries "- said Yelchenko.
He also mentioned that during the dialogue with the Russians have repeatedly heard that the great policy prevents the development of normal relations between people.
"In Russia and Ukraine believe that the issue of gas prices is not the key to the development of bilateral relations", - summed Yelchenko. |
